VisuEVO®

  • What is VisuEVO® composed of?

VisuEVO® is an innovative formulation containing omega-3 essential fatty acids, Vitamins A and D and ultra-filtered phospholipids. VisuEVO® reduces excessive evaporation of the tear film, which is caused by inflammatory conditions on the surface of the eye, due to the presence of liposomes (phospholipids), Omega-3 and Vitamin D. Vitamin A and phospholipids are natural constituents of the tear film. Their antioxidant action prevents damage caused by reactive oxygen species and facilitates homoeostasis and the retention of the tear film, as well as the control of its evaporation. Omega-3, Vitamin D and Phospholipids improve the osmolarity of the tear film, protecting it from inflammatory conditions caused by excessive evaporation.

  • What is VisuEVO® is indicated for?
    • For all forms of evaporative dry eye, to improve the stability of the lipid layer by reducing the evaporation of the aqueous phase, i.e. the tear film (which can be caused, for example, by prolonged use of computers, reading, driving, the use of medicines, ocular allergies and contact lenses).
    • As a pre-treatment for eye surgery, in order to help with the restoration of the lipid integrity on the surface of the eye.
    • For forms of dry eye caused by a reduced secretion of lipids from the Meibomian glands.
    • For cases of dry eye caused by a mucin deficiency.
    • For cases in which dry eye has worsened as a result of the use of preserved eye drops.
  • How do I use VisuEVO®?
    • Instill 1 drop of VisuEvo® into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day or according to the different instructions of your ophthalmologist.
    • If you are using other eye drops at the same time, it is recommended that you wait at least 10 minutes after administering other.

VisuXL® Gel

  • What is VisuXL® Gel composed of?

VisuXL® Gel is a preservative free ophthalmic gel with lubricating and antioxidant components: Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E TPGS and cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose.

VisuXL® Gel is indicated for both day and night use. Cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose is a biosynthetic substance, safe and inert, effective, and long lasting. Its cross-linking and the lack of specific enzymes able to degrade the molecule at the level of the ocular surface, stabilises the polymer giving it a longer half-life compared with the traditional hyaluronic acid.

Furthermore, the cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose is a hydrogel which in its native state has specific characteristics including muco-mimetic properties, viscosupplementation, hydration and substance delivery.

  • What is VisuXL® Gel is indicated for?
    • Moderate to severe dry eye.
    • Foreign body trauma.
    • Alterations in the continuity of the corneal and conjunctival surfaces after refractive corneal surgery and corneal transplant. In order to alleviate the typical post-surgical symptoms, VisuXL® Gel acts a cushion between the eyelid and the corneal and conjunctival epithelia
    • Alterations of ocular surface related to metabolic disorders (diabetes).
  • How do I use VisuXL® Gel?
    • Instil 1 drop of VisuXL® Gel in the conjunctival sac of each eye 2 times a day or as directed by your ophthalmologist.

COQUN® OS

  • What is COQUN® OS?

COQUN® OS is a food supplement based on Coenzyme Q10 Miniactives®, a patented innovative technology based on the modified release of the active ingredient at specific time intervals (which is not affected by physiological variables such as pH and gastrointestinal motility), thanks to the presence of a permeable and insoluble polymeric multi-membrane system. COQUN® OS, thanks to its innovative and patented modified and controlled release technology, allows the transport of Coenzyme Q10, favouring its absorption.

  • What is Coenzyme Q10?

Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is an endogenous molecule synthesized by our body and essential for the proper functioning of the mitochondria, the cellular units responsible for the production of energy in the body. The endogenous concentrations of Coenzyme Q10 tend to decrease naturally with aging and in the presence of neurodegenerative states, including those related to retinal ganglion cells.

  • How do I take COQUN® OS?

It is recommended to take two capsules a day, preferably after meals, to be swallowed with a generous sip of water.

MeiboPatch®

  • What is MeiboPatch composed of?

MeiboPatch® has been designed to minimise the risk of allergy. The mask is made from cotton and grape seeds. It does not contain any perfumes or essential oils. You can choose to use either side or switch sides during the application. The mask contains grape seeds which have the capacity to store and release heat. Grape seeds are very rarely allergenic and do not release any odor.

  • How often should MeiboPatch® be used?

The mask can be used twice a day at the start of treatment. When your symptoms have been relieved, you can use it less frequently. In order to avoid irritating the eyelids, massaging the eyelids more than twice a day is not advised. Your eyecare specialist may assess the severity of your symptoms and advise you whether to use your mask more often.

  • How to store MeiboPatch®?

The mask should be kept in its box. Unlike other grains, grape seeds do not turn rancid with the result that the mask has better longevity. The mask should not be washed. To prevent soiling, you can use a tissue placed between the mask and the eyelids during treatment. If necessary, you can disinfect your mask using a wipe impregnated with alcohol (available from pharmacies). In this case, let your mask dry completely before using it again. Before each use, it is necessary to check that the MeiboPatch® reaches the minimal effective temperature using the temperature testing strip (please refer to pages 5/6 of the IFU leaflet). Do not use the mask if the fabric is torn or any grape seeds are leaking.

  • How to use MeiboPatch®?

Remove the mask from its box and place it on a clean plate suitable for microwave use. Stay near the microwave oven while the mask is being heated. Make sure that the microwave tray rotates correctly during heating.

40 seconds’ heating in a microwave oven with a power of 800 Watts is generally sufficient for MeiboPatch® to reach the desired temperature.

If after 40 seconds of heating your MeiboPatch® fails to reach a suitable temperature, moisten your mask with water using a clean cloth. Wait until your mask is dry before using it again.

Always check the temperature on removing the mask from the microwave oven.
Once you have heated your MeiboPatch® in the microwave, shake gently and test the temperature:

    • using the temperature testing strip, (please refer to pages 5/6 of the IFU leaflet)

    • on the inside of your wrist, to check whether the temperature is comfortable.

If the wattage of your microwave oven does not have a 800 Watts power, choose the setting nearest to 800 Watts and start by heating the mask for 40 seconds.
After heating the mask, check the temperature and if necessary adjust the heating time when you next use it.

Warning: Never heat for more than 60 seconds at a time.

If the mask is at the right temperature and feels comfortable, shake it in order to distribute the grape seeds evenly. This will improve the heat distribution.

Lie in a comfortable position. Place the mask on your closed eyes, making sure that the notch of the mask is correctly positioned over your nose.

    MeiboPatch Mask

Make sure you keep your eyes closed throughout application of the mask.
After it has been in place for 7 to 10 minutes, remove the MeiboPatch® and massage your eyelids using the technique explained below.

    Eyelid massage

The eyelid massage is a part of your treatment with MeiboPatch® and will help to remove the secretions which have been liquefied by MeiboPatch®. This step is essential. You can perform this simple massage simultaneously on both eyes. Follow the instructions of your ophthalmologist to perform this massage. The basic technique is described below.

Massage should be done with closed eyes.

Close your eyes and place your index or middle fingers at against your eyelid, just above the lashes at the inner corner of each eye near your nose. Move your fingers firmly along your upper eyelid as far as the outer corner of each eye.

The technique is the same for the lower eyelids. Place your fingers just beneath the eyelashes in the inner corner of the eye and move them outwards.

Do not massage your eyelids more than 2-3 times in order to avoid irritating them. Finally, wipe away the secretions with a tissue or a wet compress.
